When the business started, it worked primarily with Oracle database applications, contracting within their client sites. In the early years, Mr. Torti was the sole employee and ESD resource. As the business grew, he began to employ other healthcare IT consultants across the country, building relationships with consultants that are still a part of the ESD team today. Over the years, our company has evolved to meet the needs of the rapidly changing healthcare industry and has established itself as one of the largest healthcare IT consulting firms in North America.

Our business model is built upon assisting hospitals make the transition to new or upgraded healthcare IT systems, such as Allscripts, Cerner, Epic, McKesson, Meditech, NextGen and Siemens. We provide full-cycle implementation support – from pre-implementation planning and training, go-live support, and system optimization after the implementation to ensure systems are functioning to meet our client’s needs.

When asked about what has turned this once garage-based business into its current success, Mr. Torti credits the strong teamwork of the ESD group, as well the passion of our employees and consultants who have helped our clients achieve success. Many of our clients have engaged with ESD for each of their healthcare IT deployments, establishing true partnerships and successful outcomes, enabling them to provide the best patient care during the transition to a new system.

During the Forum, ESD will be facilitating two Focus Groups, each with roughly 20 CIO’s. In these discussions, thought-leading CIO’s and ESD executives will be sharing ideas and participating in a discussion regarding best practices of implementing new or upgraded healthcare IT.

This is the first annual Informatics Conference facilitated by the North Shore-LIJ Institute for Nursing, which is dedicated to the continuning education of the nursing community through education, research and professional growth.

At the event, key initiatives regarding healthcare informatics at the local, national and international level will be discussed, as well as the opportunities that may arise regarding the continued integration of healthcare informatics.

ESD will be a sponsor at the event, available to participate in the discussions of how implementation planning and staff augmentation can help provide the foundation for a successful transition to new healthcare informatics.

This is the fifth year for the Healthcare IT symposium, held in conjunction with Justin Timberlake’s Annual Shriner’s Hospital for Children Open.

The goal of the Symposium is to provide a roadmap on how to prioritize and tackle issues facing heatlhcare IT executives today, and ESD is proud to be participating as a sponsor. The Symposium will feature tracks focused on clinical informatics and healthcare technology as a whole.

We are proud supporters of the Shriner’s organization, which provides critical healthcare services to children, regardless of their ability to pay. Our very own Joe Mason is a Shriner himself, volunteering his Fridays at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati, OH – something that he has been passionate about for quite a few years.

Health information technology improves the quality of healthcare delivery, increases patient safety, decreases medical errors, and strengthens the interaction between patients and healthcare providers.
